Onion syrup best for colds

This is one of the most famous homemade syrups. Made from natural ingredients, it is completely safe. You can give it to your children and elderly people without any fear. It perfectly alleviates cough symptoms and brings relief during upper respiratory tract infections thanks to the excellent properties of onion

Onions are a source of valuable vitamins and nutrients: they are rich in fiber, calcium, potassium, vitamin C, vitamin B6, sulfur, antioxidants and flavonoids. Moreover, it contains quercetin, a powerful antioxidant that protects against heart disease, lowers blood pressure and cholesterol levels, and above all strengthens the immune system

Syrup recipe

Ingredients:

  • 2 large onions,
  • 5 tablespoons of honey, preferably linden honey (or 5 tablespoons of cane sugar if you do not have honey)

Method of preparation:

Peel and finely chop the onions, then put them into a 400ml jar and pour over the honey. Close the jar and set aside. The syrup will be ready to serve after 2 days, when the onions will release all their juice. After the specified time, strain the syrup by pouring it through a sieve. Syrup can be given immediately, during illness even every 2-3 hours after one teaspoon.
